Caring for Tamariki who have Experienced Trauma Workshop

22 Apr

Join us for a 2‑hour workshop designed especially for whānau carers, focused on understanding trauma and adversity and how these experiences can affect tamariki and rangatahi (children and young people).

We invite you to join us next Wednesday 22 April for a 2‑hour workshop designed especially for whānau carers, focused on understanding trauma and adversity and how these experiences can affect tamariki and rangatahi (children and young people).

The workshop is being run Dr Braden Clark (GRG's Interim General Manager) who will now be in New Plymouth next week. Braden's doctoral research looked at how we can support children who have experienced trauma to heal.

This workshop aims to support and strengthen you by building knowledge, confidence, and practical skills that can be used in everyday whānau life.

Workshop topics include:

What trauma and adversity are
How trauma and adversity can impact children’s wellbeing, behaviour, and development
Practical, trauma‑informed strategies carers can use to support children and young people

The session will be interactive, strengths‑based, and grounded in compassion, acknowledging the vital role you play in providing safety, stability, and connection.
