Sarah Gray - Te Matau-a-Māui/Hawkes Bay
Kia ora whānau, I’m Sarah, though most people know me as Whaea Sarah.
I’m privileged to join the GRG team in Heretaunga | Hastings.
Born and raised in Hawke’s Bay, I have been married to my husband Noel for more than 25 years. Together, we have 12 children and many mokopuna.
We are kin-carers to our 11-year-old grandson, who has been with us since he was six days old, and we have more than 10 years’ experience fostering and caring for kin and non-kin tamariki. This journey has given me a strong understanding of both the privileges and realities of raising mokopuna, including navigating care arrangements, whānau dynamics, education, health, and social support systems.
Professionally, I bring more than 30 years’ experience across education, leadership, community service, and social services advocacy. Alongside my role as centre manager of a busy early learning centre, I am also a marriage celebrant.
I am proud to support the work of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren in Hawke’s Bay and to walk alongside whānau providing their mokopuna with safety, stability, and aroha.
