Unite against COVID19-699 GRG Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Trust NZ is an Essential Service under the Ministry of Social Development’s category of Social Services.

Our National Support Office continues to operate with all our Outreach and Advocacy staff working remotely from home
.
If you need support, information, advice, advocacy and guidance at this time please contact us on our free 0800 GRANDS (0800 472 637) helpline service which is available from Monday to Friday, 9am to 2pm.  You can also email us or make contact through our Contact Us page or through our Facebook messenger service at www.facebook.com/grg.org.nz 


Our Outreach and Advocacy Team is able to assist you and a direct referral to one of our advocates can be made via our 0800 GRANDS helpline.

  Childcare Options for Children Aged 0-14 years of Essential Workers

To ensure essential workers can access childcare if needed, the Government has agreed that a range of large licensed home-based service providers will provide additional support.

Civil Defence Emergency Management Assistance
  • For existing MSD clients or NZ residents needing financial support, please ring Work and Income on 0800 559 009
  • The Government helpline is available to help people who aren't sure who to talk to, on 0800 779 997
  • Foreign Nationals who do not qualify for other support can still access support through Civil Defence Groups by contacting them through the Government helpline on 0800 779 997
  • For those who need support to find short-term temporary accommodation due to COVID-19, please call MBIE's Temporary Accommodation Service to register on 0508 754 163

  • Regular Healthline - 0800 611 116 for health advice and information, anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • 1737 – Free call or text 1737 any time for support from a trained counsellor.

  • 0800 Whats Up? - is Barnardos’ helpline for tamariki and rangatahi in Aotearoa. It’s available free  nationwide, for children and teenagers to call or chat online with one of their counsellors. Call 0800 942 8787 or Chat with them online

  • Voyce Whakarongo Mai - Connects children and young people in care with advocates and trusted adults to help them have their say. During the VOYCE’s phone line is open and their Kaiwhakamana are following up advocacy requests via phone and online. VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai is also continuing its outreach to caregivers and children in care via phone and preparing a steady stream of virtual tuhono connection events to keep tamariki and rangatahi atawhai engaged and occupied at home.
