I love the boys but the most enjoyable thing is I'm liking being with them. These times are enjoyable as they grow into young men becoming more at ease with others and themselves! Becoming more responsible to others around them is making both boys into nicer young men. I believe if they get the support they need they will grow into men capable of being able to contribute to society." GRG Member
Your lives have changed and so have the lives of your grandchildren. As you rebuild your lives together remember it is often the simple things that makes all the difference promoting a positive and happy home for you all.
Through years of experience, these are the top tips from our founder Diane Vivian and many of our grandparent members:

- Have fun together
- Read as much as you can or Google
- Watch the Grandparenting Toolbox DVDs
- Share your problems or worries with others who understand/ what you are going through. Pick up the phone and call our 0800 GRANDS helpline or contact your local GRG Support Coordinator or attend one of our SALT courses.
- Get counselling if it is needed
- Praise your grandchild and focus on their good behaviour to encourage more of the same
- Attend parenting or caregiver courses to brush up on your understanding of child development and effective strategies for managing problem behaviour and encouraging good behaviour.
- Don't sweat the small stuff!
Financially, life is a disaster and ill health makes me a disaster! This isn’t the life I would have chosen or the road I would have wished to travel. It’s not the dream I had, but I am amazed to see where I have come, where I am going, where I am from! My grandchild makes life so worth waking up for. So we walk this journey together and dream new dreams together. Together life will be different.” GRG Member
