|Sharon Lee, M. Ed, Waikato University, Researcher and former GRG Field Officer presented the findings of her thesis and study of grandchildren and their reflections on being parented by their grandparents.

|Rebecca Barson, National Manager Care, Child Youth and Family presented on the key changes to the Children Young Persons and Their Families Act 1989 as a result of the Vulnerable Children Act 2004 and new Ministry for Vulnerable Children/Oranga Tamariki and framework for protection of vulnerable children by the state.
These changes affect some grandparent and whanau carers and their ability to access support services from the new agency.
